Jeanie has been really struggling with being here.  It is a big adjustment.  She's having to work really hard and it's been tough for her.  She has been receiving quite a few categories and is really testing her boundaries.  That is understandable since she is new to the program.  It will take some time for her to adjust and decide she wants to work the program and make it work well for herself.  She has good days and bad days.  She participates well in P.E., she loves to run and she's very fast.  She has a few girls that she is beginning to associate with and look up to.  It will be good for her to have good peer relationships.  She is working hard in school and putting forth some effort in both school and therapy.  These last few weeks she has been able to participate in preparations for the local Christmas in the Country festival.  The girls will be singing Christmas carols and the upper levels will be able to ride on a float in the parade the Saturday after Thanksgiving.

Jeanie had a tough beginning to her week.  She is having a hard time adjusting to the routine and not having any control over being here.  It made  her feel hopeless and helpless and she didn't deal with it well.  However, after some help from her therapist she was able to move on and have a better week by the time Thanksgiving came around.  For the holiday weekend the girls got a big break and had a huge Thanksgiving dinner.  They didn't have to do classwork or study hall.  They played softball and football and watched movies and ate snacks.  It was good for Jeanie to have the break and just be able to enjoy the holiday.  Jeanie was able to go off campus and sing at the Christmas festival talent show.  She did well and had fun.  She is doing well in school and getting good grades.  She is scheduled for her physical on the 27th.

This week the girls were able to go off campus and help wrap presents for needy families at the fairgrounds building.  This was their service project for the week and it really helped the girls feel part of the community and feel that they are doing something special to help needy families who haven't been fortunate this year.  Each family was given a themed wrapping paper and decorations.  The girls really enjoyed themselves and had a great time.

Jeanie had some discouraging health news this week and had a few days where she was upset and unhappy, both with the situation and with her actions that brought her to the problem.  However, after talking with her therapist and case manager, she has come to the understanding that she is at the first steps of the process and she has to stay positive and keep herself healthy in order to work on the problem.  Jeanie is doing well in school and is participating well in activities this week.  With Christmas coming, she seems to be trying hard to stay positive.

This week was a week spent in preparation for Christmas for the girls.  Most of the girls were able to participate in activities such as decorating Christmas cookies, caroling, and goofing off.  There was a lot of time spent relaxing and watching movies to help the girls feel like they are having a short holiday vacation.  There was also a lot of time spent in group therapy to help the girls deal with the holiday and the feelings it brings up.  They had a full week in school but a light course load.

Jeanie has been doing well this week.  She's been eating well and participating in group activities.  She's had a hard time being emotional on a few occasions, but overall has tried to be positive.  She has worked hard and completed a difficult therapy assignment that was stressful for all of the girls.  But she completed it on time.

This week was a fun week for the girls.  They had a nice Christmas morning, sleeping in late, having a nice breakfast and then a fun visit from Santa who brought presents for all.  Each girl was allowed a 5 minute call home.  For some who haven't had phone calls, this was a real treat.  For everyone, the calls were too short.  They really miss their families.  The rest of the day was spent relaxing, eating, and watching movies.  For the new year holiday the girls helped the community by decorating the fairgrounds building for the Parowan New Year's Eve Bash.  Most girls were allowed to attend the party and welcome in the new year with the community. Then they helped clean up the building afterward as part of their service project.  The girls are a great help to the community and are much appreciated.

Jeanie has had a good week this week.  Only 7 points lost!  Good for her!  Her attitude has been much improved and it's been nice to see a few genuine smiles out of her.  Jeanie enjoyed the holiday activities and being able to sleep in a few times.  She also really enjoyed being able to go off campus to the New Year's Eve party.  She's been eating well and participating well as she should be.

Back to school for all of the girls this week.  Most are happy to be back into their routine.  Watching movies was fun but only for a while and it's been nice for the girls to have more to occupy their time and minds.  Some of the girls were allowed to go on a sleigh ride this weekend at a local farm.  And in equine therapy some of the girls have been allowed to ride the horses, which was quite thrilling for them.

Jeanie has had ups and downs this week.  She's really lost a lot of points and struggling with school.  There are times when she lets too much get her down and she ends up crying.  But there are also times when she really tries hard and is enthusiastic about school and the program.   She seems to be a little more positive lately and is even talking

 moving up a level.
